| Throbbing/Stabbing Pains |
[16 Dec 2009|01:26am] |
Lately I've been having some seriously sharp stabbing/throbbing pains in what I think is my cervix, and some just under my pubic bone. It doesn't feel like it's IN my vagina, but just.. somewhere in the vicinity of. Just right under the bone down REALLY low. I can't relate the pain to any of my son's movements. I feel quite a bit of what he does (or so I think) and can't make any connection between the two. Anyone have this or have any idea what it is? I have a doctor visit on Thursday and will bring it up with her then, but it hurts pretty badly and I'm obviously curious. Thanks!

I am 15 weeks and 1 day along and I don't think I've gained anything yet. Is this normal? Yes, its me the anxious pregnant woman and if there are no OBVIOUS things wrong, I will create a reason to worry! But really, do you think everythings ok?

Who else can't wait to wear their normal clothes again???
Ooooh pick me pick me! :D
It seriously takes me like 15 minutes everyday to find something to wear that doesn't make me look like the size of a planet. I hate wearing maternity jeans, I find them soooo uncomfortable. I'm actually going to old navy today in hopes of finding better ones (the ones I wear now are from motherhood).
I feel so superficial that the biggest thing about this pregnancy that's driven me nuts is gaining weight and not being able to wear all my clothes. But man, you never really realize how much you appreciate all the clothes you own.... until you can't wear them.
I honestly never even want to bother leaving the house, I'd rather just sit home in my sweatpants. Maybe I'll just live in sweatpants until the baby comes. Cause I'm sick of having this super hormonal meltdown every time I want to go hang out with friends and I realize I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!
Just had to get that out, I'm sure you ladies understand :)

| 3 Hour Glucose Test |
[15 Dec 2009|03:57pm] |
Yes, me again, sorry. I found out yesterday my blood sugar levels were 135... 5 points over the 'normal' limit.
Is it really worth me getting the 3 hour test? I feel like my doctor's office is really pushing this on me, because if I fail I can see a nutritionist (which is what they want and why they gave me the test so early... I'm only 20w).
They're worried about my blood pressure, which is understandable, but I have been working on getting it down. And while it's usually 180/85 or higher, yesterday it was 125/70. I don't want to be on blood pressure medication, but they don't seem to believe I can watch what I'm eating and control it.
I think I just don't like this doctor's office in general and I'm going to start looking for a new one. It's extremely shady, in my mind, when you call me on Friday and say "Your levels were 'slightly elevated', we'll talk about it Monday at your appointment." And when I come in for that appointment, you don't even mention the damn test. I ask about it and the nurse says, "Well, it was high." "How high?" "It doens't really matter, you failed." "What was the number?" "SIGH. 135." "135 out of 130?" "Yeah."
Or the fact that I've been in for TWO anatomy scans and they are still missing seeing the baby's spine. So now they want me to get a level 2 ultrasound, which I refused. I'm 20w, and have had 4 sonograms already. Doesn't that seem a bit much? But they keep telling me the baby is fine and the right size and all that jazz, so wtf?
UGh... Sorry for the rant. I'm having a crappy day and this doctor crap isn't helping.

I've tried Motherhood Maternity, JC Penny, The Gap and Old Navy, and it appears that it's almost next to impossible to find maternity pants that aren't baggy in the behind and leg area (I have thin legs and a small behind), and tops that aren't clingy and accentuating the breasts. Anyone have any fav. spots to shop?

39w4d what happens if my water breaks and i don't do anything about it? the reason i ask is because, either last night or the night before (i honestly don't remember) i woke up in the middle of the night to pee. i peed, and when i stood up i thought something ran down my leg. so i felt it, and it was definitely something wet. well, i didn't think about smelling it because it was the middle of the night and i was half asleep. i didn't think anything about it other than "i must have not wiped well enough, oh well". but now that i'm thinking about it, i'm worried that it was my water breaking. i know it's most often just a trickle and not a huge gush so now i'm being paranoid. as of last tuesday i was 3cm dilated and i'm also pretty sure the baby has dropped, as i can feel her so low in my vagina, like she's literally about to come out any second. she has still been moving fine (she is most active at night though so i'm going to wait awhile and make sure). i definitely can't afford to go to the emergency room, especially if it's nothing at all, so what should i do? just wait until the morning and call the doctor? i'm worried because if i don't call, i won't see him again until friday (assuming i haven't had the baby by then), which is the day after i'm due, and that will be ten days after he told me i was 3cm.

The 'instructions' are made of fail :O When I get to the "To Assemble Bassinet" part. It looks as if its put together already. I got this second hand, and my husband has spent about an hour trying to figure it out.
First the car seat, now this? Lol :P

So we have decided that even though the nausea sucks, it is normal. So tell me what you guys have been doing to help. The "eat a cracker" or "drink a Ginger Ale" advice won't get far with me, because honestly putting food in my mouth is half the problem. SMELLING the food before I put it in my mouth is the other half. Sometimes even THINKING about food. Either I am hungry but can't figure out what to eat (thanks to the aversions to almost anything edible) or I just ate and it isn't sitting right. And the Vitamin B-6/12 whatever could be an issue because I gag on the pills I am already taking, so adding another will just add to the big sob-fest I get to enjoy nightly over the toilet. I'm already losing weight instead of gaining- baby wants some food!!
TL;DR version- Any off the wall or unusual things that helped nausea? Preferably ones that have nothing to do with shoving anything in my mouth.

| Traumatic pregnancy |
[14 Dec 2009|01:48pm] |
I'm just curious if there are other moms out there who decided they will not be getting pregnant ever again due to a problematic pregnancy? I feel like I'm gonna get alot of hate-mail because of this question but I honestly will be adopting if we choose to have more kids. I feel like I've been super unfortunate symptom-wise from the beginning and wonder if anyone feels this way or if anyone else DID and changed their mind after the baby was born.
Also FYI, Kourtney Kardashian just gave birth. Kendra Wilkinson gave birth the other day too... I'm getting super annoyed. lol

| Does this sound like morning sickness? |

I'm 14w1d currently, and I had NO morning sickness during the entirety of my first trimester. At 1:00am this morning, I woke up and vomited. By 5am, I had thrown up a total of 4 times, but had a normal temperature. Therefore, I'm confused as to whether this is the flu, or if this sounds like morning sickness. To the ladies who HAVE experienced morning sickness (but not all-day sickness), is it normal to wake up this early to throw up, or is it really only right after you wake up normally? Any advice/stories of your experiences would help!

My belly is really filling out now. DH can feel the baby kicking against him when we cuddle now. Out of curiosity, I checked my cervix the other day. I am about 2 1/2cm dialated already!? Whoa! I'm not having a lot of contractions or anything regular, so I'm waiting it out to see what happens next. I was about 3-4cm for a month with the last one and she was born on her due date, so could just be normal for me being a multipara(many pregnancies and births.) However, it is REALLY early to be dialated... The round ligament is giving me a "ripping" pain when I try to roll over in bed. Ouchies! I wake up at least twice at night to pee. Exhausted in the mornings from broken sleep, but got to get used to it for the newborn days of mid-night feedings and such.
Still haven't bought a car seat, DH wants to wait till closer to the due date to spend the money on it. I plan on getting some newborn clothes in the next 6 weeks or so. I have all the cloth diapers we could possibly need (and yet I am tempted to buy more when I see something super-cute.)
We moved back in October, and I still haven't unpacked the boxes in my room or set up the room the way I want it. I am hoping to get that done before the baby comes, too!

From what I've been reading...losing your mucus plug doesn't really mean much? Everything pretty much lists it as an early sign of labor but then say it could mean labor will start anytime from hours to weeks away. So if I lost mine...it doesn't matter?

| In between? |
[14 Dec 2009|07:07am] |
I tried on Maternity clothes for the first time yesterday (14w 3d) and was initially elated that they were still much too big (I'm 5' 2", so I'm used to most things being much too long, but the pants in my normal size were also insanely baggy). This morning, however, getting dressed for work, most of my clothes are hinging on too tight- shirts especially. I can use a rubberband to keep the pants on- it's just the waist that is snug. I dug out some older, slightly larger clothes, but I feel like I'm swimming in them. Are there any tricks for this stage? I'm an elementary school teacher, so I don't have to be really dressed up... and there's only one week until vacation...
( Possibly more to it? )

I found this book "from the hips" http://fromthehips.com/ about four days before I gave birth to our baby girl. This book helped me more in those four days than What to Expect did in the last eight months. Highly recommended by me ...and boyfriend! ps check out "the happiest baby on the block" http://www.happiestbaby.com/ boyfriend and his sister swear by it.

Does anyone else have HORRID congestion during their pregnancy? I've been congested since I found out I was pregnant. It's driving me crazy.
I've used Afrin or similar nasal sprays to help at night, though I recently found out I probably shouldn't have been using it. :( Now I'm kinda pissed at myself for not knowing that, but I'm trying not to kick myself over it.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alleviating severe congestion? On top of that, does anyone have a suggestion for getting off nasal decongestants? I want to stop using the Afrin, but I already don't sleep at night as it is, and I have a job where I talk on phones for 6 house straight, so not being able to breathe out of my nose is going to be quite difficult. I'm going to buy some saline spray tomorrow, but I know it won't be as comforting as the Afrin, but I'm willing to try anything to get off the stuff!

Thanks!

... and I was waiting for the switch to flip so that I would feel fantastic and energized and myself again! Well... it switched alright, but went the wrong way!!!!
I feel like CRAAAAP. I've gagged about 100 times today- no exaggeration. I almost projectile vomited all over the living room at least 5 times while trying to straighten up. I got winded trying to find something in the closet (not strenuous) and almost fainted. I didn't even bother with my pills last night because I was so nauseated, but I didn't want to skip two nights in a row so I took them tonight... kneeling in front of the toilet. I gagged on almost every pill (6 of the monsters) and lost all kinds of juice and pills into the toilet. I went to dinner with friends last night and was SO EXCITED to be able to eat real food! I had my first cheeseburger in 13 weeks... and root beer and fries and felt fantastic! For about 30 minutes and then the room started spinning and I had to scout out the direction of the rest room in case I needed to make a run for it.
So what gives?? I thought I was supposed to feel better, but it is DEFINITELY worse. Did anyone else feel worse in the second trimester and how long did it last?

[13 Dec 2009|05:18pm] |
Sooo this may sound dumb. But I had a dream last night that I had my baby and my milk didn't come in and I got really upset and refused to let the doctors give her formula for whatever reason, so she started to starve or something. It was truly a nightmare!
So just wondering, since most women don't tend to lactate until a couple days after birth, are you supposed to give your baby formula until then? I mean, I literally can't think of any other option. I'm not anti formula or anything, just wondering cuz I've heard some ladies say their babies have NEVER had formula. I guess that means they started to lactate immediately? How does all this work? Just curious! :P

So this post is going to be a little bit about everything (as I have thought about posting several times, and have generally just been ultra lazy)...here it goes: AH! I fell down my stairs yesterday! from the top, I went down about 7 stairs, in my mid back...ouch! I did not call the doc, and wondered all day if I should have...I had no bleeding, cramping...I felt the baby move only a little yesterday...but then again, generally, I swear she does not move much (maybe because I am pretty late in my pregnancy?)...anyways, comments?
secondly, I had a 36 week ultrasound the other day and AHHH! the babe is already more than 6 1/2 lbs...this is incredible to me considering my first was only 6 1/2 lbs total...I don't feel big enough to have a full sized baby in me already (I am 5'4" and currnently 135 lbs...110 lbs prepregnancy)...I know that u/s are notoriously wrong at predicting weights, however, for the fun of trying to imagine how big my abbe could possibly be, how much weight will the baby expect to grow in the last month? If the babe is really 61/2 lbs at 36 weeks, what will she be at 40 weeks?
thirdly, proud that just yesterday I began working on the nursery area...I have procrastinating like crazy!!! nothing fancy...just happy to get the puke of previous children cleaned from the car seat, clothes cleaned/folded...I would love to get a really cheap rocker or glider, so if anyone has any leads, I would graciously accept the help...
anyways...there is much more I have been wanting to share, but my computer has been on the blitz and I better post instead of pushing my luck trying to get out a couple more various thoughts and rants
